New Delhi, Sep 12: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone today spoke up in support of Shweta Basu who was recently caught as part of a sex racket in a hotel in Hyderabad. Shweta had told police that she had gone into prostitution because she had run out of money to support her family and some good causes.

Deepika Padukone took a sympathetic stand towards the predicament the Makdee actress had found herself in and said that the young actress must have had no other option but to enter prostitution. She further said that since it was the only thing Shweta could do, it was wrong to judge her for it. She demanded justice for the national award winning actress and urged others to understand her situation and consequent decision. She also requested that people come forward and help her in these difficult times rather than point fingers and make a scandal out of it.

Other Bollywood and TV stars have come forward in the past week to support Shweta who is currently in a women's safe home. Shweta had also told police that there were other actresses too who had to resort to these means to make some money. She admitted that she had made a few wrong decisions in her profession and therefore run out of money. In order to do justice to her responsibilities she had taken up the advice she had been given at such a vulnerable time. The advice had got her into the sex racket with Balu as her pimp who it is said collected Rs1 Lakh from clients, for their rendezvous with the actress.

Many people have used social media sites demanding the release of the names of the people who exploited the 23-year old actress when she took up the world's oldest profession.
