Mangalore, Sep 11: Chain snatchers in a bike snatched a gold chain from the neck of a woman who had got down from the bus after buying grocery and was walking towards her house at Pakshikere of Mulky police station limits, on Thursday September 11.

Pakshikere Kemral grama resident Mallika Bhat (50) bought grocery from a grocery shop in Kinnigoli and got into a service bus and alighted at Hosakadu bus stand. She was walking towards her house when two strangers arrived in a bike, pulled the chain from her neck, pushed her on the road and fled, stated the complaint lodged by her in Mulky police station.

A part of the Mangalsutra has remained with her. The part taken away by the robbers is said to be weighing 32 grams and estimated at Rs 80,000.

The men who had come in the bike were wearing helmets and the bike had no number plate. It is said that it was a ‘Discover’ bike.

The police and locals have begun the search for the culprits but have not yet found.

    It is very unfortunate that chain snatchers took her mangalsutra.she should have told them that it is mangalsutra and not chain then they would not have taken it .next time I advise her to were a chain in addition to mangalsutra so that the robbers can take only the chain and let the mangalasutra remain in its place. Lastly, she can even request her PATI to accompany her with the mangalasuta in his possession and handover the same to her on her reaching her destination and repeat the same every time she travels.
