Mangalore, Sep 20: A sixty-year-old person was killed in an accident at Gurpur near here on Tuesday September 19 afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Vaman Poojary (60), a resident of Gurpur. He was on his way back home on Tuesday afternoon after receiving his new ration card from the gram panchayat office.
He was walking on the footpath when stepped into a pothole before falling on the road. Before he could recover, a lorry passing by, knocked him down. As a result he sustained serious injuries in his head as well as on other parts of the body. Both his hands were cut-off in the tragedy. He died on the spot.
Bajpe police have registered a case in this regard and have confiscated the lorry.
