Mangalore, Sep 20: A person hailing from Badami district was killed in an accident at Chokkabettu near Suratkal here on Tuesday September 19 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Mahagundrappa (31), a resident of Kulai near here. He was a native of Hiremuchala Gudda in Badami district and was working a labourer at Krishnapur while staying in a rented house at Kulai.
On Tuesday evening, after completing his work, he had got into a city bus at Krishnapur to go home. He was seating by a window seat. As the bus reached near bridge at Chokkabettu, a lorry transporting scrap things rammed into the bus from behind. Since Mahagundappa was sitting by the window, he sustained serious injuries in his head and died on the spot.
The Suratkal police have now registered a case against lorry driver Mustafa.
