Bangalore, Sep 16: The TOI Bangalore International Marathon is the largest in the country and the first such marathon was conducted in 2005.
This year 35000 runners are expected to take part in this challenging event that tests the limits of human endurance and speed. It will be flagged off at the Kanteerava stadium on September 17. The excitement has been building up over the past few months as runners have started their training sessions.
A touch of glamour will be added to the marathon with its sprinkling of celebrities from the Kannada film industry, heads of IT companies and corporates. Besides this, prominent sportspersons like Kirmani and Ashis Bala will participate.The marathon will also have many charities associated with it. The I Congo which is the Indian Confederation of NGOs consisting of over 150 NGOs will be part of the event.
This marathon is more than just a race, it’s a community celebration that will bring together Bangaloreans from all corners of the city to a common platform. Besides the runners, the crowds that come to cheer them will make this an event for everyone to participate and enjoy. An event that will go down in the annals of Bangalore history.
