Mangalore, Sep 5: On the occasion of teachers’ day, MLA J R Lobo paid a visit to his high school teacher at Gurpura Kaikamba in city.

He honoured his teacher sister Floretta with flowers, fruits and a shawl on this occasion.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Lobo said, “In our life to reach a particular goal, our teachers play a significant role. In my life, I have had many teachers but among them sister Floretta is very close and friendly to me. She taught me science in 6th and 7th standard in higher primary school at Pompei church. I am fortunate to be her student and I have a great regard for her”, he added.

Lobo further stated, “Today I have reached this stage only because of my teachers. They are responsible for my achievement in life. Teachers not only include school teachers but also my parents, family members and friends who taught me in my life. Today, I remember all my teachers and express gratitude for what they have been to me”.

While speaking on the occasion, sister Floretta said, “When I taught him, I had just begun my teaching career. I don’t remember much about what I taught in class. I never imagined that I would get this opportunity to be felicitated by J R Lobo”.

She further added that in her 39- years of teaching career, she has taught many students. It was not the salary which impacted her teaching but the impact she had on students which mattered to her.

“Teaching years are the best years in my life. I thank God for giving me this opportunity and feel really blessed”, she added.

This is surely a good act. Much appreciated. Whatever we have achieved in life and attitude we have developed is because of our parents ( who are our primary teachers ) and teachers who have thought us in schools and colleges. It is important to recognize their contribution and honor them.

However, as a legislator I believe Mr. J R Lobo, could do much more so that all the general concerns of the teachers are met and they get their due respect in the society.
