Chennai, Sep 4 (IANS): Fashion designer Gaurang Shah, a textiles and weaves revivalist, will launch his store for ethnic fashionistas here on the occasion of Teachers' Day.
It will be his seventh store in the country, and will be located at Dr. Thirumurthi Nagar, Nungambakkam, here.
The designer hopes his finest hand-woven collections at the store will make it the happening place to head to at the start of each season for his customers, said a statement.
"The craft and innovation in our shelves is designed to delight, surprise and dazzle woman who love innovation and explore new twists in fashion," said Shah.
"We want to bring a breath of freshness through our hand-woven collections, never-seen-before in this region in our store and we are confident high-fashion consumer in the city will adore them," he added.
He has used "modernist-with-a-kalamkari-twist" interiors to add a distinct character to the store.
The shopping collections will include his hallmark nine-yard kanjivaram saris with big borders and his hit international catwalk shows and exhibition trendsetter khadi, uppada, benarasi, kota, paithani, kanjivaram and patan patolas that have won him popularity.
Shah has used varied textures and yarns like muga, tussar, silk, khadi, organza, maheshwari, and kota and fused them together with techniques like tie-dye, block printing, batik, hand painted kalamkari, chikankari.
