Panaji, Sep 3 (TNN): After a hectic work schedule over the last one year, chief minister Manohar Parrikar has gone on a week-long foreign tour.
Parrikar will return from his private visit on September 9, sources in the government said.
In Parrikar's absence, deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza will hold charge as the chief minister. Sources in the secretariat said that D'Souza started clearing files.
This is the second private visit of the chief minister abroad since the BJP came to power in Goa in March 2012.
The first visit to the US was in June 2013. But it was marred by reports of instability in the government as an attempt was made to dislodge the government as there was resentment in the party then. During that visit of Parrikar, PWD minister Ramkrishna 'Sudin' Dhavlikar was given charge as chief minister.
