RSS activist hacked to death in Kannur, state-wide hartal called

Stephan Kayyar
Daijiworld Media Network - Kannur

Kannur, Sep 1: An RSS worker was hacked to death at Diamond junction near Kathiroor in Kannur district here on Monday September 1.

The deceased has been identified as RSS activist Elanthottil Manoj. Another person who was with him was sustained injuries.

It is said that a group of miscreants first waylaid Manoj's car, hurled a crude bomb to create panic in the area, and then attacked Manoj and his friend with sickles. Both were rushed to hospital, where Manoj was pronounced dead.

The RSS has called for a state-wide hartal from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday September to protest against the murder. However, due to Ganeshotsava celebrations in Kasargod and Manjeshwar, these two places will not observe bandh. Schools and colleges will remain closed and exams will be postponed.

Incidentally, the attack took place on a day when BJP's national president Amit Shah is on a visit to the state.

RSS-BJP leaders alleged that the CPI(M) was behind the killing.

Sources said that the police have already taken six persons for questioning.

According to police, T K Rajeesh, one of the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, and his accomplices had tried to murder Manoj a few years ago. Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan was murdered in Onchiyam, Kozhikode in 2012.

It is reported in a few other news sites that this RSS activist was involved in a few murder attempts in the past.

Parents MUST discourage their kids from joining radical, violent and fanatic organizations like RSS, popular front, bajrang dal etc.

The master minds in these groups mislead and incite youth to attack and fight sadly when these youngster are caught, their careers and future is ruined, while these fanatic organization continue to make merry..

Students must focus on education and think of becoming successful in any path they choose. This path of political vendetta and goondagiri will boomerang on most youngsters in the near future.

In the eve visit of Amith Sha,BJP national President, the untoward incident is indeed very unfortunate. In another news item I did right about RSS Kerala, which has largest Shakas in the entire India. But the chain of political murders in Kerala involving CPIM-RSS cadres in fact a continuous process like Goondas/underworlds taking revenge. This should be stopped and shedding blood for political ends need to be stopped. In this regard CPIM-RSS-MUSLIM LEAGUE-CONGRESS sit together and sort it out.Volatile political scenarios in Kerala ends up in political murders in fact a black dot on Indian democracy.May soul rest in peace.

Great sensible writing. Marxists are always scared of RSS. Marxists are aware if RSS gets strong in Kerala its difficult for them to come back since their main divided hindu votebank will get eroded. If they just wanted to kill, they could have just killed him but if you notice they deliberately chop him so that if anybody has seen the chopped body they will think twice before joining RSS. You all can check records of earlier attacks on RSS.

People on this forum have no clue what is happening in Kerala since ages and just showing their hatred to one community.

jb, mlore The CPM -RSS fight over territorial supremacy is as old as the state itself. CPM was once the undisputed leaders, but when Janasangh - RSS combated their might, CPM cadres have resorted to voilence & killings. This is rampant from the 145-51 scoreline so far (data from 1969 onwards)

CPM & Marxist affiliates have been reigning with terror & deathly acts of bombing & handicapping several RSS & BJP cadre members & since Kerala's Congress is mute spectator, they are not doing anything to address this killings. Most of RSS - BJP members belong to lower end strata of Hindus often belonging to dalit & lower castes

CPM is unleashing terror on Hindus & we have notable DW commentators admiring their efforts & promoting communal discord in Kerala
