Mangalore, Sep 1: A girl studying in first PUC allegedly committed suicide at her residence in Kelarai, Neermarga here on the evening of Sunday August 31.
Akshata (16), daughter of Umesh and Kamalakshi, hanged herself in her room.
Akshata's father Umesh is a personnel in the forest mobile squad while her mother is assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Kadri police station.
It is said that on Sunday evening, Akshata's father and brother went to temple, leaving her at home as she was sleeping at the time. When they returned, they found her hanging in her room. Her mother was on duty and was informed soon after.
Sources said that Akshata's parents had taken away her mobile phone, and depressed over it, she reportedly ended her life. Another source said that she was saddened by the death of a close friend a few days ago.
A case has been registered in Kankanady rural police station.
