Kasargod, Aug 28: A man from Ujire, Beltangady, accused of murdering a teenage girl way back in 2006 was arrested on the night of Wednesday August 27 in Nashik, Maharashtra.
The accused, Umar Byari (33) had previously been arrested for allegedly killing Fathimath Zuhara (17) by cutting her throat after entering her house. However, after being released on bail, he went absconding, till a police team led by DySP T P Ranjith arrested him again at Nashik at Maharastra.

The barbaric incident had occurred on December 28, 2006 at Bambrana Uluvar in Kumble. The accused had killed Fathimath Zahara (17), daughter of Uluvar resident Abubakker.
Umar Byari was known to the girl and it is said that he had forced her to have physical relationship with him. When she refused his advances, he killed her by slitting her throat, it is alleged.
Umar was employed in a plantation near a mosque. He had allegedly entered the house of the girl through the roof at around 2.30 am by climbing a coconut tree which was adjacent to the house.
The accused was arrested within a few days of the murder. He was granted bail last year, after which he went absconding.
The police team whice came to know that he was hiding in Maharashta, conducted search operation and arrested him on Wednesday night, August 27. The police have said that he was working in Nashik as a contract laborer. To avoid identification, Umar had grown his hair long and changed his looks.
ASI Balakrishnan, Pradeep Kumar Chavara, Sinis Siriak, Saifuddin, Sunil Abraham and others were part of the police team.
