Kasargod, Aug 25: The rider of a scooter lost his life on the spot after a bus belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) rammed into his two-wheeler. The accident occurred in front of the town police station here on the evening of Sunday August 24.

The bus, operating between the town and Mangalore, was bound for Mangalore when the accident occurred. Basheer (40), who suffered critical injuries, died on the spot before medical help could be extended, it is gathered.
Basheer, who hailed from Mandekolu in Sullia, had of late started his own business in the town, and was staying near the government school in Mogralputtur in the district. His body was shifted to the mortuary of the general hospital here.
Relating to this incident, as a precautionary measure, police security was provided for the depot of KSRTC here. This measure was taken, as a gang had attacked the bus depot sometime back, after the rider of a motor bike was killed after his two-wheeler and a KSRTC bus got involved in a collision.
In another accident, a student lost his life and his friend sustained injuries, after the rider lost control of his bike, as a result of which the motor bike tumbled onto the road. The accident occurred at Periya Kalyottu on the night of Saturday August 23.
K V Sajith Kumar (22) from Bedadka was the victim of this accident. Vinish (22) from Kalyottu, who was riding the pillion, suffered injuries. Vinish is being treated in a hospital.
Sajith was a student of a private Industrial Training Institute in Kanhangad. He used to work on holidays to earn money for his education. On Saturday, he was returning home late night after attending to the work of providing electrical wiring to a house in Kalyottu, when tragedy struck. Sajith was immediately taken to nearby hospital. As his condition was serious, he was advised to be taken to a hospital in Mangalore for advanced treatment. But Sajith breathed his last on way to Mangalore, it is gathered.
A case relating to this accident stands registered in Bekal police station.
