Mangalore, Aug 25: A complaint was registered in Ullal police station here against senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, on Sunday August 24.
In its complaint, Mangalore assembly constituency committee of BJP has accused Aiyar of making derogatory statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The complaint, made by secretary of the assembly unit of the party, Dayananda Thokkottu, has alleged that Aiyar, in his recent statement, had called upon the women of the country to push Modi into the sea.
"This statement has hurt the sentiments of 125 crore citizens of India. It also is an insult to Narendra Modi, who has emerged as the Prime Minister through a democratic process," the complaint says.
BJP demanded that the police arrest Mani Shankar Aiyar and take legal steps against him for his alleged statement.
