Dubai, Aug 24: To mark its 22nd anniversary, Devadigas Dubai (UAE) in association with Acme Building Materials Trading LLC is all set to present 'Sandalwood to Bollywood', a unique musical nite with grand comedy and dance show at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai on Friday September 12 at 5.30 pm.
Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha president Sarvottham Shetty, businessman Sathish Venkataramana, Anand Devadiga and Sharjah Karnataka Sangha president Shantharam Acharya released the event's tickets in the presence of Harish Sherigar at a formal function held at Fortune Plaza, Dubai on Friday August 22.
Addressing the gathering, Sarvottham Shetty said that the event has been organized with a noble objective - to raise an education fund for financially needy children in India under the leadership of renowned entrepreneur and established singer Harish Sherigar of Acme Building Materials. He also said that the Sangha is organizing such an entertainment event to help the poor students and such great work by Harish Sherigar and Devadiga Sangha is appreciated by the people all over. "Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, Sherigar is also an established singer and has engaged himself in helping the poor students in one or the other way. This shows his concern towards the society and the community," he added.
Harish Sherigar said that most of the time poor students, who excel in academics get deprived of education due to poverty and remain poor throughout their lives. "Hence, helping such students will help them and their family to lead a good life. The event has been organized with an aim to help the poor and this satisfies me," he said.
Sherigar also said that till date Devadiga Sangha was providing financial assistance to the poor from the Devadiga community, but the Sangha further plans to extend its scholarship funds to other deserving students too, irrespective of caste and religion, and the event 'Sandalwood to Bollywood' is an initial step in this direction.
The fund collected through this event will be distributed among the poor students from all the castes and religions. Sherigar also urged various pro-Kannada organization to extend their support to this cause and make the event successful.
Dinesh Devadiga of Devadigas Dubai welcomed the guests and said that Devadiga Sangha has always engaged in organizing prgrammes for good causes. Sherigar who has been the president of the Sangha for the past four years has increased the amount of scholarship to Rs 6 lac per year and over the past four years the Sangha has distributed a total amount of Rs 24 lac.
After the formal ticket release function, singers like Vijay Satya Bhat, Akshatha Rao, Harish Sherigar, Prashanth Acharya, Sunil Devadiga and other enthralled the audience with musical numbers. The programme concluded with lunch.
