Mangalore: Dead snake found in Frooti tetrapack

Mangalore, Aug 23: In an incident which could be termed as squeamish, a student found a dead snake in the tetra-pack of Frooti juice which she purchased from a shop at lower Bendoor on Friday August 22.

"It seemed that the juice was blocked by some object as the liquid failed flow through the straw and further into my mouth when I sipped. Intrigued by the phenomenon, I opened the tetra-pack and to my disgust, found a snake like vertebrate in the pack," said Kunsang.

However, the photograph sent through WhatsApp by the guardian suggests that it is a long green creature that apparently resembles a dead green snake. However, the student claimed it to be a snake, while her friend's parent Barkath said he was unable to spot the name of the dead specie.

The student purchased the pack at Tejaswini store near lower Bendoor. The print on the box explained that the juice was not expired as it could be healthy drunk till January 2015. Kunsang further said that it appeared like a non venomous green snake and was surprised to find it in the largest selling mango flavored drink in India, Frooti. The colour of the mango flavored juice had turned green due to the presence of dead snake.

Barkath said he was unable to believe the experience his daughter's friend went through. He said that he would complain it to the concerned authority to try and avoid such incidents further.

It is confirmed.. Mango juice is the official drink of the snakes. Next time officials should use this as a bait for catching snakes instead of rats and frogs. Time these snakes get their choice of food :D.

Everything seems to be either adulterated or the popular brands are
made as seconds and sold in the markets. Its the duty of govt to punish the adulterers and fake manufacturers .Those found selling these products also to be punished. Only god can save our country as these adulterers are not leaving even the milk meant for children.People should take insurance before consuming such products

hello please read the article properly. she bought the juice from shop unopened. how can the snake enter in a sealed packet? I saw factories that produce and pack these types of juices, are easily accessible for creatures. nobody pays attention . there are possibilities of falling snakes in containers that are ready to put in a packet. luckily nothing happened to that girl.thank god

If my memory serves correctly,The same incident was reported two years ago, not in Frooti but some other similar tetra drink in Bhatkal or somewhere.

Back to frooti, It is available here in any Indian store @99 cents for a six pack or $3.99 for a full carton of 24.Never had a problem.

If snakes can be found in Rice sacks in Government godowns in India, why it should be any different. Maybe it's the way they store in the open in small "Gooda Angadi's" which is an open invitation to such creatures to feast on!

The blame is on the seller for negligent storage and not the manufacturer!!

Dear Mr. Derek, in Boston USA
I dont think any US residents will buy Indian juices in USA, unless you are there for promoting there and having dealership there.
Knowing fully how the Indian products cheat the Indian consumers with bad ingredients, with no risk of any penalties in India.
However in USA, US residents can sue a company for millions for substandard products.

I always suggested before and Now and in future.
    Fruit or Juicy!!!
    Any drink
Always drink from a transparent bottle,
Either glass bottle or pet bottle
    Never mind
You can see what you drink.
    You health
    You priority
    Publicity,blaming all later.. on,
    First take precautions.

We don't know from where they make tetra packaging, because in India no control over production like other counties,
India's Heath officers are above deputy governors, they pampered so much by these manufacturers.
If it is in some other country so far factory would be closed,
I even found a big stone in 1 Kg ice-cream pack in Mangalore produced by India's famous company A#m#l

@Alwyn Mangalore, sure the Juice is heated and sterelized and packed with it what inside the pack also.It is not first time we hear such extra pack inside. That time also was a snake. Most probably small snakes must have in the open pack got inside and noone can control when Juice is filled.when pack is sealed cant get out.Afterall packing is not on the spot created.or with Juice fallen inside.Juice is sweet and many creatures love it to taste.but one Thing is sure It happened in manufacturing factory.

IF THE PEOPLE WILL KNOW HOW THE PACKS ARE MADE IN TETRA PACK MACHINE, THEY WONT AGREE ON IT .. TETRA PACK PACKETS ARE MADE ON THE MACHINE AND SAME TIME FILLING. ITS ASEPTIC FILLING MACHINE ,EVEN THE PAPER ROLLS ARE FIRST STERILIZED AND THEN THE PACKETS ARE MADE AND SAME TIME FILLING .. ..NOT AS EVERYONE THINKS ..OPEN PACKETS ARE KEPT AND FILLING BY THE TAP AND SOMETHING IS FALLEN INSIDE.. THIS IS ALL RIVAL PARTY DRAMA.OR DUPLICATE FILLING TAKES PLACE

As a future safety precaution all the juices should be sold in transparent packs so that contents can be physically seen and consumed safely. Never drink juices from the carton packs. In India quality check is lacking.

So many such incidents happens in the past and so many complaints registered but the multi national companies growing stronger day by day.
There is no proper food control authority in India and the one we have at present is least bothered about public health.

KEEP UTMOST FAITH ON GOD BEFORE YOU BUY FROOTI NEXT.Thats the only thing left for you other than quitting FROOTI
