Complaint filed against Teesta Setalvad in Goa


Panaji, Aug 22 (IANS): A police complaint was filed in Goa Friday against activist Teesta Setalvad for uploading an image of a Hindu goddess on a social networking site, which offends Hindu religion.

The complaint was filed at the Goa Police Cybercell near Panaji by one Rohit Gaunker under section 66A of the Information Technology Act.

The complainant said the Tweet uploaded by the activist from her handle @TeestaSetalvad "hurts religious sentiments of Hindus and mocks and offends Hindu religion".

A police official attached to the cell said no First Information Report had been filed yet.

"Only a complaint has been filed. We are in the process of conducting preliminary enquiries," an official said.
