Bangalore, Aug 22: The city police, who came across a huge amount of gold and cash being transported in an auto rickshaw during the routine checking of vehicles on the night of Wednesday August 20, have arrested three persons. All the arrested persons are of Tamil Nadu origin, it is learnt.
The policemen had been checking the vehicles moving through Race Course Road near Race View Hotel in the city on Wednesday night, when they found three kilograms of gold in biscuit form and Rs 41 lac in cash being transported by three persons in an auto rickshaw.
The three are of Coimbatore but they failed to produce any records relating to gold and cash found in their possession, the policemen said. The trio was bound for Coimbatore when the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling was intercepted.
The arrested persons are Natarj, Balachandiranath and Ramakrishna. They said they were travelling to Cantonment station by the three-wheeler for reaching their destination by train.
The police had tightened their vigil over vehicles in this area after they came across seven kg silver being transported without any records three days back. When their auto rickshaw was stopped by the policemen, the police observed noticeable difference in the behaviour of the passengers, following which they grew doubtful and checked the bags kept in the auto rickshaw.
The policemen are continuing with investigation.
