Mumbai, Aug 22: A week long festival of Harikatha was set in motion at Pejavar math branch hall of Prabhat Colony in Santacruz (E) recently on Shravana Krishna Paksha Navami.
The Harikatha week was inaugurated by Vishweshatheertha Swamiji after lighting the traditional lamp. "Wisdom, devotion and asceticism are the guiding light to see the Almighty. The values of these can be known clearly in Harikatha series. There was an era which stipulated that there should be asceticism in the family and our actions should be selfless. However, only worldly passion can be seen now. Harikatha will help us free ourselves from those vices," said Vishweshatheertha Swamiji after inaugurating the Harikatha week.
Kairabettu Vishwanatha Bhat held preachings from the chapters in Ramayana, Bhagavatha and Mahabharatha. He said that noble way to know the goals in life and to live setting aside the difficulties in life can be discovered by Harikatha. "It makes life easy with the amalgamation of Ganaga, Yamuna and Saraswathi. Harikatha has the capacity to control the five senses," he added.
Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji present at the programme, wished the programme well. Sudhir R L Shetty, Suma Vishwanatha Bhat of the Prathistana, Sushila Devadiga and others who were present at the programme welcomed Ramadas Upadhyaya and honored Vishwanath Bhat.
The Harikatha programme is scheduled to be held everyday till Monday, August 25 at 5.30 pm.
