Kundapur, Aug 22: A married woman from Chennai, working for a software company in Bangalore, has filed police complaint, accusing a youth from the taluk of befriending her, capturing her pictures when in close proximity with him, blackmailing her, pressurizing her to part with cash and gold ornaments, and then forcing her to marry him. Although the complaint had been lodged sometime back, the incident came to light now. The accused in the case has been named as Cyril Joseph from Mudoor in the taluk.
Subhashini (23), a married lady from Chennai with a 18-month-old baby, works for Mphasis Ltd in Mahadevapura, Bangalore. Her husband is employed at Mysore. Cyril Joseph from Mudoor, who also worked for the same company, began to come close to her in the guise of fixing a rented house for her, escorting her to hospital when she fell ill, and such other reasons, it is said. The lady says that he clicked several photoes of her in his company during these occasions, and later threatened her to hand over these pictures to her husband and her family, in addition to uploading them in social media sites. It is said that the youth extracted a sum of Rs 25,000 from her and forced her to part with gold ornaments worth Rs 85,000. After she got fed up and threatened him of filing police complaint, Cyril Joseph fled from Bangalore, leaving his job and the rented house, it is learnt.
In a complaint filed in J P Nagar Bangalore police station on July 7 this year, the woman said that the youth had threatened her of ruining her life if she failed to get divorced from her husband.
Policemen from Bangalore visited Mudoor in the taluk, looking for the accused. But they had to return empty-handed, as the accused was not traceable here. The woman also has decided to approach Karnataka State Women's Commission in this regard to get justice, it is gathered.
