Bangalore, Aug 22 : While Congress chief ministers are cut up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not reigning in BJP workers when they insult Haryana Chief Minister Bupendra Singh Hooda in the former’s presence in an official function, Karnataka’s BJP leaders are angry with the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not installing photographs of Modi in State Government offices.
The State Government and the Chief Minister have insulted the Constitution and the legitimately elected BJP Government at the Centre by not installing photographs of Modi in the chambers of the Chief Minister and other Cabinet ministers as well as the offices of the State Secretariat and other Government offices, said former BJP minister and party spokesman C T Ravi, MLA.
The BJP also strongly criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for comparing Modi to the German dictator Adolf Hitler and said his style of functioning was nothing less than dictatorship.
Taking exception to the State Government’s attitude against installing Modi’s photographs in the State secretariat offices, Ravi said the party would install photos if the Government failed to install them in the next few days.
It is a convention to display the prime minister’s photo at all prominent government offices and ministers’ chambers.
When the BJP was in power in the State, its ministers had put up photos of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in their chambers, he said.
But after the BJP came to power at the Centre, many ministers in Congress government have ignored the convention, Ravi alleged.
In fact, along with Modi’s photographs along with those of President Pranab Mukherjee, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B R Ambedkar have to be installed.
