Mangalore/Udupi: Hindu outfits in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Wednesday August 20, condemned the central government’s decision to provide aid amounting to Rs 100 crore for modernization of ‘Madrasas’ across the country.
In Mangalore, the protest was led by the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan which urged the union government to withdraw the aid.
Addressing the protest held in front of the DC office, Vijaykumar, convener, Rashtriya Hindu Andolan, said, “By giving aid to Madrasas the government has wasted the money of tax payers. Madraas have been a source of sexual harassment of Hindu girls by Muslim boys after luring them. These are the same centers where the girls are forced to convert to Islam and anti-national activities are also being held. Hence, the central government should immediately withdraw the aid.”
He later on questioned the central government why it could provide aid to the Madrasas but why not the ‘Kumbha Mela’ which is to be held in Nasik, Maharashtra, from July 14, 2015. “The central government should also take care of the interest of the majority. If these demands are not fulfilled, the Hindu outfits will stage a nationwide protest,” he added.
Upendra Achar and others were present on the occasion.
A similar protest was also held near Board High School in Udupi by the local unit of the outfit. Ram Shettigar urged withdrawal of the grants and said that there is no need to appease other religions.
“It is not right to provide pensions to ‘Mullahs’ and ‘Moulanas’,” he said adding it was essential to strengthen the majority community rather than the minority groups.
Govinddas, Chittaranjan Hegde, Shrinivas Rao, Naveen Kuman, and Praveen Kumar were also present.
