Kuwait, Aug 18: Kuwait India fraternity forum conducted 'Freedom Meet' on Friday August 15 to mark the Indian Independence Day.
The event commenced with a song and hoisting 68 Indian flags to commemorate the 68th Independence Day. Hundreds of people including ladies and children witnessed the program held at the Jamiyatul Islah auditorium, Rawda. The plurality of regional languages and presence of people from various states of India made the event more colourful.
All the speakers honoured the freedom fighters who struggled to free India from the British and reminded that it was the duty of every citizen to not surrender the freedom that we gained in front of neo corporate slavery system.
Hafiz Saifuddeen Nalakat, president, Kuwait India Fraternity Forum presided over the program. The Independence Day message was delivered by Zakir Hussain Raheemi, Nawab Hussain and Naushad who represented KIFF regional chapters.
Mohammad Haneef, president, Kadapa Islamic Welfare Society, Shamshudin, council member, Islamic Guidance centre, Tanjai Farooq Maharaj, vice president, TMMK, Islamuddin, Dayee, Punjab Section, Islamic Presentation Committee, Kuwait, Mansoor Manbai, Assistant Secretary, Tamilnadu Ulama Welfare Association, Hameed Mulki, president, KKMA Karanatka Wing, Dr Zafar Ali, General Secretary, Tamilnadu Muslim Culture Association, Ashraf Kalathod, Chairman, Mapila Kala Academy Kuwait and Khaleel Baqawi, General Secretary Kuwait Tamil Islamic Committee also spoke on the occasion.
Shakeel Ahmed, KIFF executive council member welcomed the gathering while Mohamad Sameer anchored the program; Shamsheer Aman, president KIFF Karnataka Chapter delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded by singing the Indian National Anthem.
