Kasargod, Aug 18: A native of the district, who was employed in New Zealand, met a tragic end after getting involved in an accident. The accident occurred on Sunday August 17, it is learnt.
The victim has been identified as Zeenath Rahman (30), daughter of Abdul Rahman and Zohra, residing in Chengala Indiranagar here. Her brother, Asmat Rehman, is an engineer. She was the wife of Akbal Junaid Fazal residing in Fazal Manzil in Mogral-Puttur near here.
Zeenath was employed in Senior Citizens Centre in New Zealand. She was returning to her residence at Palmerston North after duty hours, when she lost control of the car she was driving. The accident occurred at around 7 pm as per Indian Standard Time on Sunday.
The car hit the road divider, resulting in critical injuries to her and inflicting heavy damage to the vehicle. Although Zeenath was taken to a hospital immediately, she could not be saved. Junaid, concerned at the fact that his wife had not returned home even after reasonable time, kept calling her number, but did not get any response. He later realized that Zeenath had left her cell phone at home. After he contacted some other persons, he came to know that she had met with an accident.
Zeenat was travelling alone in the car, and her husband, Junaid, who works as retail manager for a company there, and daughter, Lanika (4) were at home. The couple has been living in New Zealand since the last five years. This family had visited their hometown a year back.
The policemen said arrangements are being made to bring the mortal remains of Zeenath home, and that talks with the ambassador are on in this connection.
