Bangalore: 85-year-old drunken woman raped by 30-year-old

Bangalore, Aug 17 (DHNS): A 85-year-old woman was raped by a factory worker at Nyanappanahalli near Begur on Friday.

The victim, a resident of Nyanappanahalli, was staying in a rented house along with her daughter and grand-daughter who are daily wage workers. On Friday afternoon, the survivor, a chronic drinker, had gone to a bar near her house. She used to beg money and buy alcohol.

The accused Ravi, 30, an employee at a colour-dye factory, carried away her on his shoulders, with people assuming he was her relative and helping her home being in an inebriated state. But later, a few passersby heard the woman screaming from a nearby vacant land, and on investigating, found Ravi sexually abusing her.

He fled the spot noticing people, a police officer said. The police, who were alerted, shifted the woman to a nearby hospital, where medical reports confirmed she was raped.

The police who tracked the accused through the mobile phone found on the spot arrested him on Saturday morning.

I just don't seem to understand what are these men thinking while committing such an disgusting act? She can be his grandmothers age. I am afraid sick people like the one in this case wouldn't spare his mother and sister. BEWARE . I agree from some readers comment that we should implement saudi law.

After reading most of the comments my response is that there are evil people in every community and it should be our endeavour to bring down this evil. We are all loosing our moral values and the situation is becoming unbearable charity starts at home so we should inculcate good culture first in our selves then our children, then society and country as a whole. Thereby we will get to read less of such crimes and shame.

You are right in a way but as you say charity begins at home, no doubt, only educated people inculcate good values. Rape issue is going beyong control. I am sure if a stricter rule comes into force, like either castration or death penalty that too torture the person in such a way that he realises what he is doing. Same time others who try to attempt will think twice before attempting rape or even thinking of it. Then only i feel things can improve.

    Dear Bro Praveen Kumar,

Its not Saudi law, Its Gods law of Islamic shariah and Saudi is the only country in the planet that follows the sharia law and so crime rate is minimum in this country compared to other developed or western countries..

Indian muslims too should follow the sharia law in criminal cases and just watch, there wont be rape, theft, cattle theft, drug peddling and whole of Indian muslim society shall be revitalized and happy and peaceful society shall be formed...

Here is MODI points on I.day

“Our heads hang in shame when we hear news about rape,” he said. “We keep tabs on our daughters. But do we ever keep tabs on our sons? Every rapist is someone’s son.”

Very sad to say it was the just speech like a election canvas but not solution.

Now you seem like forgot his name and behaving like a frog in the well and accusing state government. Well, i believe Karnataka is in India and why your beloved Modiji can pass a strong law against rape. He got Majority and what he is scared for?

The desperate people, who don't get girl friend or who don't get settled to marry at the right age may prey on kids, vulnerable people & even animals to satisfy their sexual needs.

The BJP Govt. at centre should pass a bill legalising prostitution. to whatever extent it may be against our culture, the govt. should ignore RSS and go ahead in this regards. I think rapes are more 'against' our culture than legalised prostitution.
Atleast this could help in giving a way to release the frustration of individuals of this kind!
