Bangalore, Aug 17 : The victim, a resident of Nyanappanahalli, was staying in a rented house along with her daughter and grand-daughter who are daily wage workers. On Friday afternoon, the survivor, a chronic drinker, had gone to a bar near her house. She used to beg money and buy alcohol.
The accused Ravi, 30, an employee at a colour-dye factory, carried away her on his shoulders, with people assuming he was her relative and helping her home being in an inebriated state. But later, a few passersby heard the woman screaming from a nearby vacant land, and on investigating, found Ravi sexually abusing her.
He fled the spot noticing people, a police officer said. The police, who were alerted, shifted the woman to a nearby hospital, where medical reports confirmed she was raped. The police who tracked the accused through the mobile phone found on the spot arrested him on Saturday morning.
