Mangalore, Aug 16: 'Chitra-Kanna Tumba Ninna Bimba', a 45-minute telefilm that portrays the intricacies of love along with a twist of fate, is all set to be released in the coastal city on Sunday August 17. The telefilm will premiere on Daijiworld 24x7 television at 4 pm, with young Mangalorean Manik Mascarenhas all set to make his debut as an actor/producer of the telefilm.

Addressing a press meet on Saturday August 16, director Srikanth Y R said, "The movie is a love story between a city boy Deepak (Manik Mascarenhas) and a village girl Chitra (Shilpa J M) set in a village in the southern part of Karnataka. The story encapsulates a mix of positive and negative shades of the characters in a simple love story."

He added that Chitra was a movie very close to his heart and he looked at it as a way to penetrate into the way society perceived love.

"This is the story of a girl who lives in a world where a woman has no right to decide how to live and what to do. Every character in this movie seeks to represent the society and the way it functions. I can proudly say that Mangalore has immense talent that should be brought out; I already feel accomplished by having something to do with this attempt."

Manik, who is a business management graduate from St Aloysius College, Mangalore, has completed his final grade in individual acting and Shakespeare from Trinity Guild Hall London(Mangalore). He has acted in several plays in and around Bangalore.

Addressing reporters, Manik Mascarenhas said, "There are lot of young talents in Mangalore. But they are scared that they might not succeed. Money is not everything that you need. I want the youths to enter into acting.

When media persons asked about the budget for the telefilm, Manik said, "Rs 2.5 lac has been spent, out of which 70% is my earning that I saved while working in an MNC in Bangalore for seven months. My family helped with the rest of it."

The 45-minute telefilm will premiere on Sunday August 17 at 4 pm in Daijiworld 24x7 channel.
