Mangalore, Aug 16: Urwa police have nabbed four persons, who were reportedly engaged in the theft of vehicles on Thursday August 14. Three motor bikes were recovered from their possession.

The arrested persons are Pratheek (19) from Bijai New Road, Rakshith (19) from Car Street, Shishir (19), living near PVS Kalakunj in the city and Karthik (19) from Sakleshpur.

A police team had been checking vehicles passing through the rear side of Infosys building at Kottara on Thursday, when they came across a motor bike without a number plate being driven by a youth. Even upon questioning, the motor bike rider failed either to produce documents or provide any explanation.

During further interrogation, he confessed to having stolen the twowheeler from Hoigebail in Ashoknagar. He also told the police that he had stolen a motor bike each from Kapikad and Yeyyadi in the city, apart from a Maruti Alto car from Hat Hill here. He also revealed to the police the names of his accomplices, Rakshith, Karthik and Shishir.

While his three accomplices were arrested and three motor bikes were confiscated, the Alto car is yet to be traced. The arrested men reportedly told the police that they used to roam around the city
at night and steal vehicles and things as and when good opportunity came their way. They said they had also stolen things from small petty shops and juice shops in the past.

Police sub-inspectors of Urwa station, H M Poovappa and Vishalakshi along with other staff were involved with the said operation.

19 year old and already a series of robbery!!! Hope the police give them slight punishment and ask them to earn something with truth. And the vehicles be returned to their respective owners. They have a long way ahead. Probably 50 - 60 more years.
