Mangalore: MickMax Memorial Konkani Drama Writing Contest: Entries invited

Mangalore, Aug 14: Daiji Dubai, the noted Konkani Writers' Forum of Dubai, has announced the first edition of Daiji Rang Mandir MickMax Memorial Best Konkani Drama Award. The award was officially declared at Daiji Dubai’s 15th anniversary celebration in Mumbai in January this year. The prize money of Rs 50,000 will be sponsored by Dubai-based Nelson Rodricks and family.

MickMax was the toast of all seasons in the 70s and the 80s, leaving behind a legacy in Konkani music, art and literature. Multifaceted MickMax was a special talent who left his imprints in Konkani world of writing, acting, music and drama.

The Award will be bestowed every year during Daiji Dubai's annual celebrations, with effect from 2014, to the most excellent newly written Konkani drama of the year. The award will carry a prize of Rs 50,000 with citation and certificate of honour.


Rules and regulations:


1. Participation is restricted to Konkani speaking writers in Kannada script only.
2. The script should be newly written and original. Work of translation is not accepted.
3. Dramas that are already staged will not be accepted for the contest.
4. Length of drama should be limited to 2-2.30 hours of presentation.
5. The plot, characters and presentation should not hurt religious or cultural sentiments.
6. If drawn into legal issues, the writer will be solely responsible for the content. Daiji Dubai or Daiji Rangmandir retracts from such responsibility.
7. Manuscript to be preferably typewritten or neatly handwritten on one side of A-4 size paper or book with appropriate spacing between words and lines. Pages have to be numbered.
8. The rights of presentation and printing of the winning drama would be reserved by Daiji Rang Mandir for the first three years.
9. While transferring the rights back to the writer after three years, if the writer wants to print or stage the drama, annotation about winning the contest should be specified in print, publicity and presentation.
10. Writer needs to keep a copy of the manuscript. The copy given for contest entry will not be returned to the writer.
11. The covering letter has to contain signature, date, and postal address, email id and telephone number underneath the following note of promise:

“I.... (Name) herewith submit my original & new manuscript……….. (Title of the drama) for Daiji Rang Mandir MickMax Memorial Best Konkani Drama Award. If selected as winner, I will accept Rs 50,000, the award winning amount, and pass on the rights for three years to Daiji Rang Mandir.”
