Bangalore, Aug 14: In perhaps the most stringent and scathing attack against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, Congress leader V S Ugrappa has lashed out at the JD(S) leader for his tirade against chief minister Siddaramaiah over the KPSC recruitment issue by claiming that the former has ''lost mental balance".
''There is no justification nor any valid explanation for Kumaraswamy’s diatribe against the State Cabinet’s decision to scrap the KPSC final list of candidates chosen for the 362 gazetted posts belonging to the 2011 batch,” Ugrappa said.
Ugrappa, who was himself a former JD(S) leader and staunch loyalist of JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D DeveGowda till his joining the Congress party during the S M Krishna regime, said the CID probe into the KPSC scam has convincingly proved the corruption and other malpractices.
The State Advocate General Ravivarma Kumar has also advised the government that cancellation of the KPSC final list was the only option, Ugrappa said and argued that the government had no alternative but to scrap the KPSC final list.
Ugrappa, who was nominated as the Congress MLC recently along with other party legislators H M Revanna, Munirathna, M T B Nagaraj and B Shivannastrongly defended the Congress government’s decision to scrap the KPSC list and said it was rejected to ensure justice to 1.38 lakh candidates applied for the examination in 2011.
The Congress leader alleged that "Kumaraswamy has lost mental balance" due which he has been opposing the government’s decision to reject the KPSC list.
The KPSC list was rejected on account of rampant corruption in the recruitment process and nexus between candidates, evaluators and KPSC members, he alleged.
Though 43 candidates belonging to the Kuruba community were selected by the KPSC, the Siddaramaiah government had rejected the list to ensure justice to all candidates wrote the examination, Revanna, MLC, claimed.
The JD(S) leader has to explain his stand on corruption to the public, Revanna, who also belongs to the Kuruba community as Siddaramaiah said.
Kumaraswamy, who has been allegedly demanding money from an MLC aspirant to ensure party’s support in the elections to the Legislative Council, has lost credibility to speak on corruption. The JD(S) leaders should refrain from loose talk about politicians, he said.
"Everybody knows that Kumaraswamy has compromised on corruption"Revanna said.
''Both the father (H D Deve Gowda) and the son had opposed all reports of commissions which recommended social justice to the other backward classes,’ he alleged.
