Mangalore, Aug 11: Hundreds of music lovers were taken on a delightful journey of evergreen melodies, at the fifth 'Sargam' event held at Town Hall on Sunday August 10.
The trio of multi-lingual singer Anita D'Souza, Srikanth Kamath and Ranjan Das rendered an astonishing performance and transported the audience to another world with songs from the yesteryears.
Inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, Naresh Shenoy of State Bank of Mysore, Kottara Chowki branch Mangalore said, "The trio have entertained my family members from the 5th birthday of my son to the 1st birthday of my grandson. I wish them all success in their future endeavours."
Eminent poet and director (operations) of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, Melvyn Rodrigues addressing the gathering said, "There are a few words which you cannot express, but those few words can be expressed through music. When Anita, Srikanth and Ranjan start singing, the birds stop singing and start listening to them."
Leo Rodrigues, NRI entreprenuer, Abu Dhabi, praised the Sargam team and also requested them to present more shows in the coming days.
Vaman Maroli, president of Karnataka Rajya Devadiga Sangha, Mangalore said, "We all have come here to listen to the songs. This group has shown its talent all over the world and has made our Mangalore city proud."
The same artistes - a melodious combination of Anita, Srikanth Kamath and Ranjan Das had presented 'Rafi-Kishore Nite' in 2010, and 'Lata Ki Suneheri Yaadein' in 2011, 'Yaadon Ki Baarat' in 2012, and 'Geet Gaata Chal' in 2013.
Evergreen melodies that have for generations captured the hearts of music listeners poured out from these artistes. Numbers like 'Humko Mann ki Shakti', 'Jaoon Kahan Bata Ae Dil', 'Tu ne o Rangeele Kaisa', 'Yeh Raatein Nayi Purani', 'Yeh Dil Na hota Bechara', 'Sawan Ka Mahina', 'Yeh Dosti', 'Duniya Mein Logon Ko', 'Sau Saal Pehle' and others captivated the audience.
Prem John added to the entertainment with his lively compering.
The inaugural event was ably compered by Krishna Prasad.
