Candidate caught stealing
A candidate who had come here to take part in the army recruitment rally, had stolen a cell phone from a studio. A number of candidates had visited the said studio located near the bus stand here, as they were required to attach photographs and other records to their applications. The youth, it turns out, took away the cell phone found inside the makeup room of the studio on Monday August 4, taking advantage of the fact that no one else was present in the room during his visit to the studio in the company of four friends.
The studio owner had filed a complaint with the local police relating to the incident. On Wednesday, the policemen, during routine verification, found that a person named Sachin D'Souza was wearing the same T-shirt in which he had visited the studio. When questioned, Sachin confessed to his crime and gave the cell phone back. It was returned to the studio owner.
Sachin was taken into custody for questioning. It transpires that he hails from Chikmagalur.
