Now, 63-yr-old teacher held for sexually assaulting 8-yr-old girl in Bangalore

Bangalore, Aug 5 (Agencies) : A week after, a seven-year-old school girl was allegedly raped in a city school, a 63-year-old guest teacher in another south Bangalore school was arrested on charges of sexual abuse by an eight-year-old student, reports stated on Tuesday.

“The teacher is a friend of the school principal and had started working post retirement,” Ramanagara Superintendent of Police Anupam Agarwal said.

Agarwal further said that on getting to know about the incident, parents approached the school today but the Principal refused to co-operate after which they informed the police.

Later, police arrested both the teacher and the principal of the school.

A case has been booked under Section 8 (Sexual Assault) and 21 (relating to failure to report the offence) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), he said, PTI reported.

Today's heinous incident came to light days after a seven-year-old school girl was allegedly raped her by the son of the attendant of the school. The 28-year-old accused was later arrested in the case.

The incident was reported on July 21. The mother of the survivor had filed the complaint. The seven-year-old is a class II student.

Last month, a six-year-old school girl of class I, was raped in the city's reputed Vibgyor School, triggering fierce protests by parents.

The school re-opened after 10 days after it was shut over the outrageous incident that led to severe public protests and prompted police to issue tough guidelines for children's safety.

Meanwhile, expressing deep concern over the alleged rape case and other incidents in schools affilitated to it, the Union Human Resource Development Ministry today sought a detailed report from Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE).

The ministry also reminded the CISCE that Karnataka government had recommended that it withdraw the affiliation given to Vibgyor High School, where the minor was allegedly raped, and asked what action it had taken.

"The ministry has felt that safety and security of school children in any school system is a critical priority. It is deeply disturbing that such a serious incident has happened. It has also noted the reports of other incidents in some other schools affiliated with the CISCE," it said in a statement.

Citing its various guidelines and laws, the HRD ministry has highlighted the role of the school in the entire matter.

Two gymnastics instructors have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang-rape of the six-year-old girl on school premises on July 2. The incident had sparked protests in Bangalore.

Could be similar incidents, like child sexual abuses in schools, taking place earlier days too when media and society were not active as now. People then out of shyness and fear of society do not come forward to report the incidents. And, so are the cases of rapes and molestations which are rampant in these days by downtrodden people to SC judges.

Some one suggested tattooing the foreheads of the perpetuaters of this crime. I wish this idea is implemented.

Why blame State Government when the Government at the Center is not willing to change the punishment for rapists\molesters and such heinous crimes?
Even proven rapists are given least sentences and death sentences announced are commuted. If the law is dilly dallying with the once punishment meted out sentences, what these rapists\molesters care. They know they will be out on bail and later get the least or no punishment at all. The Government is encouraging these type of crimes.
Laws should be changed when the changes\modernisation takes place as crimes are bound to increase at that point.
A very strict set of laws are the need of the hour with changes in the procedure of interrogating the victims in the court by defence lawyer.

I dont think such cases are new, only now everything is being exposed given the Internet age. I am sure even 50 years back things like this were happening just all was hushed. So this is a good trend.. Finally, all such sick perverts will be exposed and hopefully uted (I prefer them to be hanged)

What has happened to such beautiful Bangalore these days? Day in n day out everyday we hear something or the other. Some time back there was attack on lady at ATM. One doesn't know what is the status of that case. Now every week/day we hear some thing happening in some school. At present to run the house both father and mother have to work. How can one feel secure/comfortable at work, if these incidents continue to happen on daily/weekly basis.
