Bhatkal, Aug 4: A married man with three children was arrested here on Sunday August 3 for allegedly raping a mentally ill girl.
The accused is identified as Narayan Naik (45), a resident of Yelvadikavur, Bhatkal rural.
It is said that the girl's brother goes to work daily morning and returns only in the evening. Sources said that Narayan would enter the house within ten minutes after her brother left for work and force himself upon the girl. This continued for many days. Being mentally ill, the girl could not speak up.
A school boy had noticed Narayan entering the house every day and on Saturday August 2, he informed her brother regarding the matter. On Sunday morning, her brother left the house on the pretext of going for work, and waited in the neighbour's house.
As soon as Narayan entered the house, her brother too entered and tried to get hold of Narayan, but the accused pushed him and fled the scene.
Her brother informed the police and immediately the Bhatkal rural police team rushed to the spot and began searching in the jungle, and succeeded in arresting him.
Narayan is married and has three children. A case has been registered in the Bhatkal rural police station.
It is learn that the police have done a medical check up of the girl at Bhatkal government hospital and have produced the report in the judicial magistrate court and have also taken her statement. Narayan too was taken to Belke government hospital for a check-up and is now in police custody.
The girl stays with her brother. Their mother is no more and father has separated from family.
