Mumbai, Aug 2: Nagarapanchami was celebrated on Friday August 1 with pomp and gaiety in the only temple in Mumbai devoted to Jagadamba Kalabhairava deity. The temple is situated in Gumfa Tekadi Narayanagiri Ashram in Krishna Nagar on Jogeshwari east Clive road.
On the day named after Shukla Paksha Panchami of Shravana month as per Hindu calender, chief priest P C Jayaprakash Bhat, led religious programmes such as Ashlesha Bali, Nagatanu, Nagatambila, 105 tender coconuts offering, offering of milk, Panchamratha Abhisheka, Mahapooja and distribution of food for all the devotees. Main devotion was held in the afternoon. The priest distributed prasada and blessed the devotees.
Management trustee T B Acharya, temple committee members Muddu C Suvarna, Sanjiva P Poojary, H Babu Poojary, Shekhar Karkera, social service committee president Satish Devadiga, vice president Ashok Acharya, convener Shivaprasad Poojary, co-convener Raghavendra Shanbhog, executive committee members Sheena Poojary, Sadashiva Kotian and others participated in special prayers. Thousands of devotees took part in the devotional programme, received sandalwood prasada and obtained the blessing of Naga deity.
