Mumbai, Aug 2: Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Maharashtra (KBMM) organized a talent completion at Nihar Hall, Orlem, Malad (W).
The response was tremendous as groups from various areas across the city took part in the event. Mahakali unit bagged the trophy with 16 winners. Mira Road, Malvani, Bandra and Vasai too put up a big fight to challenge them.
Competitions were held in singing, dance and elocution under three categories of sub-junior, junior and senior. Three winners in each
category were declared. All winners will be awarded with certificates on Konkani Manyata Diwas at Karnataka Sangha, Matunga on August 17 along with winning trophies.
KBMM president, John D'silva inaugurated the event. Lawrence D'souza Kamani welcomed and Benedicta Rebello encouraged the youngsters to showcase their talents. Cyril Castelino compered and managed the event along with Vincent Castelino and Walter D'souza Jerimeri. Refreshments and tea was arranged by Cypri Sampige.
Judges for the event were Gladys DSilva, Benedicta Rebello, John Mascarenhas and Lawrence D'souza Kamani. John D'silva, former president of KBMM honoured the guests.
KBMM will organize Konkani Manyata Diwas on August 17 at 6.00 pm with entertainment programmes and distribution of Pratibha Puraskar, Dr Menino D'souza Puraskar, trophies and certificates for winners of talent and Kaviraj J B Sequeira poetry competitions. The event will be followed by a sumptuous Konkani dinner at 9 pm.
