Beltangady, Jul 31: Neelayya Gowda, a resident of Ninnikallu House, Bandaru village here has appealed to the police commissioner to find his 28-year-old married daughter who has been missing since June 7 this year.
In his appeal, Neelayya Gowda stated that the day his daughter Yashoda went missing from her husband's house, their neighbour Purushotham, son of Narayana Gowda who is employed in Bangalore, also went missing.
Yashoda and Purushotham
Neelayya said that he had got his daughter married to Ramanna, son of Parameshwar Gowda, a resident of Mudelthiyar in Kaniyur village, eleven years ago and the couple has two children.
"Her husband Ramanna Gowda rolls beedis in the house and Yashodha is a housewife. Yashodha had gone out on June 6 morning at around 9.30 am saying that she was going to the post office at Mairotadka in their village, but never returned. She did not go to the post office or to the houses of relatives. Her mobile has been switched off since then," he said. A complaint was lodged in the Uppinangady police station but his daughter has remained untraceable.
The fact that Purushotham too went missing the same day as his daughter has created anxiety among the family members, Neelayya said.
"Being a relative, Purushotham used to often speak to Yashodha. He was acting suspiciously and troubling her. He was warned about it, after which he acted as though he had corrected himself. The family of Purushotham act in a suspicious manner when we ask about his whereabouts. We suspect that the family knows the truth behind my daughter going missing," Neelayya stated.
The mobile phones of Yashoda and Purushotham were switched off within a few minutes of each other, it was learnt.
"We are worried by thoughts of what might have happened to our daughter - whether she is alive, has become a victim of illegal activities or is under house arrest. We are strongly suspecting that Purshotham's hand would be there if anything untoward has happened to our daughter. The behavior of Purushotham's family and their statements strengthen our suspicion," Neelayya stated in the appeal, urging the police to take suitable action in the case.
