Mangalore, Jul 28: A 16-year-old boy from Nadiguttu in Puttige village has been accused of sexually harassing a seven-year-old girl, besides posing death threats to her. The incident involving a second standard student and a local boy, occurred on the evening of Saturday July 26.

Reportedly, the girl, after the school hours, had visited a shop run by her maternal uncle nearby. The accused boy, who happens to be the son of a local named Prakash Bhandary, had visited the same shop then. When the girl left alone to the house of her grandmother about half a km away, the accused reportedly followed her.

As soon as the girl reached a deserted spot at Kolakady Nadiguttu, the boy is said to have pulled at the bag of the girl, and called her close to him. When she refused, he dragged her towards him, posed threats besides assaulting her, and sexually harassed her after forcing her to sit on his lap, the complaint explains.

The girl, residing near a temple in Puttige, narrated the incident to her mother after reaching home. Her mother, with help from neighbours, filed police complaint, after which the policemen subjected the girl to medical examination.  Case relating to sexual harassment as well as  atrocities against SC/ST act  was registered against the boy, who was produced in the juvenile justice court in Mangalore on Sunday.
