Mangalore: Oldest member in this family welcomes granddaughter's granddaughter

Mangalore, Jul 27: Nowadays, finding five generations of a family is rare. A family at Nadiguttu, Adyar here was indeed blessed when its eldest member, Arkula Pelapadi Gulabi Shetty cradled her granddaughter’s granddaughter!

This family hails from Kuttettur, Kenha ancestry and the names of people going back seven generations are known. Kutti alias Korapol belongs to the first known generation. Her daughter Rukku Shedthi has been blessed to see the fifth generation of her family. Rukku Shedthi lives at Kuttettur Kenha house. Rukku’s daughter Gulabi Shedthi is married to Arkula Pelapadi’s Sesanna Shetty.

Gulabi Shedthi’s daughter Ambavathi is married to Timmappa Shetty and they are residing at Adyar, Nadiguttu house. Ambavathi’s daughter Sharmila, after marrying Narayana Shetty of Kadeshivalya, Amai village, is residing in Aurangabad. Sharmila’s daughter Preethi is living with her husband Vineeth Shetty in Shibaroor Koramyaar. Currently, Preethi is the principal of Navachethana Educational School at Neermarga. She was recently blessed with a baby girl.

The great-great-grandmother is very happy to see the five generations. Preethi has named her daughter Pranvi. Twenty-years ago, when Preethi was born, this family had celebrated at having its fifth generation, but then Gulabi Shetty's mother passed away. Now, the family is celebrating again.
