Mangalore, Jul 27: Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim acclaimed the preparedness prior to the army recruitment drive scheduled from Aug 5 to Aug 12 at Alva's College, Vidyagiri on Sunday July 27. He lauded the efforts after inspecting the preparation works.
Addressing the press after inspection he said, "Aspirants from 24 districts would participate in the recruitment programme. Earlier, in the year 2010 district hosted the drive; hence this would be after four years."
He added, "Those who have passed 8th standard and has the height prescribed by the army norm could attend the drive. The aspirants falling under the age between 17-23 will be absolved after they succeed various exams."
The district administration has promoted the event on AIR and DD. He said DCs of other districts have been informed of the same. Ibrahim expressed confidence that youths from DK would participate in good numbers to serve the country.
Army appointment director, Mangalore division Col Vishwanath said, "Transparency is the top priority during the recruitment process. The recruiters will not heed to any pressure from any level. The officers would scrutinize the education certificates to check the authenticity."
"Had any malpractice noticed by any recruiter, the candidate would be sent out immediately. Candidates will be issued tokens to run after they pass the physical examination," he added.
He announced that token holders were supposed to run one kilometer in a minute. Those who pass this test will be given the appointment letter.
During the recruitment drive, 11 officials and more than 100 staff will function to recruit the eligible.
In the press meet army welfare and rehabilitation department joint director Dr Prakash, assistant commissioner Dr Prashant, district health officer Shivkumar, president of Alva's education institution Dr M Mohan Alva were present.
