Udupi, Aug 15: The district-level Independence Day Celebrations were held on Ajjarkad ground on Tuesday morning.
Minister of medical education and district minister-in-charge Dr V S Acharya hoisted the national flag and received the guard of honour at the march past presented by the district police, home guards, scouts, guides, fire brigade, NCC etc.
Deputy commissioner Ponnuraj, superintendent of police Dr Subrahmanyeswar Rao, MP Manorama Madhwaraj, MLA Raghupati Bhat, municipal chairperson Shanta Krishna Naik, zill panchayat chairperson B N Shankar Poojari and others were present.
