Mangalore: Resignation of members a 'farce': DK unit of AAP

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jul 22: A day after 17 members of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resigned, including some of its founding members, the Dakshina Kannada unit of AAP held its general body meeting on Sunday July 20, with invitations extended to all active members across the district.

A press release from the party stated that more than fifty persons attended the meeting and many members called expressing full cooperation, support and regretted their absence due to previous pre-occupations and inclement weather conditions, especially the outstation members.

"The mood of the meeting was upbeat and enthusiastic with all members fully resolved to uphold ideals, aims of the party especially against corruption and more so in the prevailing post Lok Sabha elections scenario. Many decisions and guidelines were discussed about the future course of action and the direction of the party in the immediate future," the release stated.

"An ad-hoc committee was formed to attend/solve/handle immediate and pressing organisational issues. This committee shall take action to pave way for a more permanent officiating body shortly. As per our mission and norms, the party will form committees in all taluk in DK district very shorty," stated the release.

On the issue of resignations by its members, the AAP stated, "The resignation of certain 'founder members' as reported in the press was noted and dismissed as a 'farce'. The members who resigned included those who had been expelled, resigned or left voluntarily a couple of months back. Further many members whose names were mentioned telephoned and expressed their ignorance about the reported statement and gave their full commitment to the party. Some among them even attended the meeting after explaining their position and the unlawful inclusion of their names without permission. It was noted that only a few, a couple of members, to avoid self appreciation as per state order had created this problem by going to the press when they were well aware that this meeting was to be held."

The release further stated, "It was noted that our party will pressurize Mangalore city corporation to have ward committee in all 60 wards. As per the high court order, (the MCC) had to do so, but it is still not done. The party has already sent request to form the ward committee to MCC mayor along with copies to the DC and the city corporation commissioner a couple of weeks back."

"Dayanand Someshwar ably presided over the meeting, assisted by Walter Menezes, Joseph Martis besides others. The next general body shall be held shortly. Invitation goes out for more members to join the movement against corruption," the release stated.

Only AAP can give clean governance. I agree they are inexperience ppl, becoz non of them are politicians. They will learn slowly. They are honest and patriots. None of the AAP members working for salary unlike other parties. In AAP all are free Volunteers. All the best AAP.. We have gave chance all the parties. Lets give at least once chance for AAP..

ANY PARTY TO BE IN NAME IT HAS TO ACT RESPONSIBLY HIGHLIGHTING FAILURES OF RULING GOVT. AMONG THE MASS THEREBY AVAILABLE FOR HELP TO THE DEPRIVED.
SUCH ACTS WILL BE RECOGNISED BY THE SOCIETY AND KEEP IT IN MIND DURING ELECTIONS.
WE SEE NOBODY HAS A LITTLE SOUJANYA IN THE RAPE CASE OF BABY SOUJANYA TO HIGHLIGHT THE MATTER AND FIGHT FOR JUSTICE. THAT IS WHY TODAY MUSTAFA LIKE CRIMINALS ARE ROAMING.

Glad that daiji has published the other side of the story. Some did that press conf bcoz of their agenda to damage the party bfore quitting. Totally undrstnd they felt bad that their voice was not consdred evn aftr their work for the party.

They were good people but wantd power to do good. Allthe 3lead people who did press conf had applied for party ticket for loksabha elections.

Now that they r out of party, we inside party hav ore responsblties. We will deliver.

Congress and BJP must hav celebrtd aftr prev report whch falsely gave impression of end of AAP. Now, they need to buckle up. AAP is here to stay.

My guess is that AAP is suitable to be voted for panchayath, municipality or corporation (corporator) level. They are not suitable for state level or national level politics. You like it or not it is the truth.

The ideas of Swaraj, Lokpal, honest and transparent governance are at the core of AAP. People with conventional thinking and habits don't fit in this movement-Party. AAP gets strength by doing the right thing in local places. Mangalore city corporation to have ward committees in all 60 wards, as per the high court order is the right thing to do for AAP. Best of luck.
