Mumbai, July 22: The annual meet of the Okkaliga Sangha Maharastra was held at Kamgar Kalyan Bhavan at Gondavli, Andheri (E) on Sunday July 20.
Rangappa C Gowda, president of the sangha, presided over the programme. The immediate past president of the sangha and K R Pete MLA Narayana R Gowda arrived as the chief guest and inaugurated the new website of the sangha. Narayana Gowda spoke and said that the sangha, started with the name of Adichunchanagiri Seva Samithi Mumbai is progressing with the blessings of Jagadguru Balagangadhara Swamiji.
"The united effort of society members is necessary to make the sangha grow as per his aspirations. The sangha entrusted with the responsibility of informing their noble projects to the people, has planned several projects and the cooperation of the people is necessary to make them a reality," he said.
"There is a need of goodwill and co-existence among the Okkaligas. If the society mixes with everybody, it will pave the way for progress of all. The sangha which proceeds to provide a bright future to the next generation should be considered an asset by the society in order to ensure well-being of the society and prosperity of the community. So let us, the strength of Okkaligas who are spread into the length of breadth of Maharastra mix through the sangha and build a happy and prosperous society," said Rangappa Gowda in his presidential address.
Chief secretary K Raje Gowda welcomed the gathering, read the annual report, put forth the agenda and said that Okkaligas have a glorious tradition. The sangha which has the history of growth and achievements realizes the struggles for improvements in culture, social, religious, educational and economic services. He called one and all to unite the community.
Sangha vice presidents Mohan Kumar J Gowda and Puttaswamy N Gowda and honorary treasurer Laxminarayana N Gowda gave information on the income and expenditure.
