Udupi, Aug 11: Young film maker from Udupi, Prakash Suvarna Katapadi is venturing into making a new Kannada film Akku.

"The film focuses on social evils like child marriage, child labour, assault on women. It is an opportunity to young stage artistes of Tulu drama to exhibit their talents," Prakash Suvarna told this website’s newspaper.

Former Lions District Governor Dr A Ravindranath Shetty switched on the camera to mark the initiation of film production, at Ambadibeedu. Katapady Gram Panchayath President Agnes D’Sa, noted magician Kudroli Ganesh, senior citizen of Katapadi Shivaji Shetty and others wished the film maker every success.

Presently the film is being shot at Ambadibeedu and Mattu of Katapadi. Fransic D’Sa of Udupi Channel is producing the film. Prakash Suvarna has written screenplay and will be directing the film.

Cinematography is by Jagadish Katapady, music by Rohith Malpe, sounds by Anil Sounds Shankarapura. Sudesh Bangera Yermal, Jagadish Bolje, Jayalakshmi Athradi, Shivani Shetty, Master Prajwal, Uday Kumar Shetty, Hebri, Sathish Amin Padukare, Harish Rao, Harish Poojary and others are acting in the film. Prakash had already made two tulu films ‘Chenni’ and ‘Hallimane’ and a documentary ‘Kunjaru Giridurge’.

‘Vishwasada Mane’, another documentary on rehabilitation centre, Shankarapura, by Prakash is also in the making.
