Udupi: Jayakar Suvarna elected president of district journalists' union

Udupi, Jul 19: Jayakar Suvarna has been elected the president of Udupi district journalists' union for the year 2014-15.

The election was held during the general body meeting of the union held at Lions Club of Udupi, Brahmagiri here on Saturday July 19.

The following office-bearers were unanimously elected:

President - Jayakar Suvarna (DD News)
Chief secretary - Ganesh Prasad Pandelu (Udayavani)
Joint secretary - Rakesh Kunjoor (Udayavani)
Vice-presidents - Mohammed Sharif (Vartha Bharathi)
H K Hejmadi (Vijaya Karnataka) K C Rajesh Kundapura (Prajavani)
Treasurer - Rajesh Shetty (Namma TV)
Sports secretary - Nazeer Polya (Vartha Bharathi)
Executive committee members - Rahim Ujire (Kasturi News), Arun Kumar Shiroor (Udayavani), Balakrishna Uchil (Namma TV), Hebri Udayakumar Shetty (Udayavani), Suresh Yermal (Karavali Ale), Bandimata Shivarama Acharya (Vijaya Karnataka), and Mazhar Kundapur (Jayakirana).

Senior journalist B B Shettigar was the election officer. Immediate past president Kiran Manjanabail and others were present.
