Udupi, July 14: The Diocesan Family Life orientation program was organized for the first time for family cell members of the parishes of the diocese on July 13 at the Bishop’s house.
The programme was inaugurated with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Diocese of Udupi, Fr Chetan Lobo, Director Family Commission, Ida Cornelio, resource person, Prakash and Shalet lobo.
Fr Chetan began the session by giving a talk on the current scenario of the family in the modern society with a comparison between the modern traditional families of our society. In the second talk Bishop explained the pastoral plan of family commission. During his talk he stressed the need of making our families united, committed, stable and Christ centered and highlighted the need of bringing the vision into reality from the grass root level i.e. parish level.
The morning session was concluded by celebrating the holy mass by Fr Stephen D’souza, Director DBCLC Diocese of Udupi.
After lunch, during the afternoon session the Associated Director of family commission Leslie Arouza gave guidelines in working out the pastoral plan at the parish level. Mervin Saldana gave an introduction of 'Couples for Christ' to the participants.
Fr Chetan wound up the program by thanking the members for their active participation. The program was compeered by Leslie Arouza. Married couples of 37 parishes participated in the programme and witnessed the success of the first seminar of the Family Commission of the Diocese.
