Mangalore, Jul 13: K S Nithyananda Swamiji of Chikmagalur Vedic Science Mandir inaugurated ‘Tulunadu Krushi Janapadotsava’, organized by Jnanashakthi Subrahmanya Swami Religious Trust in the Bakimar Field, Haleangady Pavanje near Mulky on Saturday July 12.
"One must know the importance of the slush, through these games. Sports association must come forward and organize such sort of programmes, so as to save our agricultural lands for the future generation. If religious centres encourage and organize such programmes in the temple premises, then the sanctity of the temple can also be maintained," he said in his inaugural address.
Speaking on the occasion, APMC member Pramod Kumar Kinnigoli said, "When we always see this field besides the highway, it reminds us the old tradition of Tulunadu. It is our duty to safeguard the agricultural lands and these sorts of committees should come forward in large numbers and arrange more of such games."
Mulky Seeme Dugganna Savantha Arasa presided over the programme.
Pavanje Jnanashakthi Subrahmanya Mahaganapathi Temple member Dr Yaji Niranjan Bhat, temple administrator Shashindra Kumar, Ganesh Bhat, Haleandgady Durgaparameshwari mutt priest Rudrayya Purohith, Haleangady Sri Narayanaguru temple priest Vasudeva Shanthi, Hindu Jagarana Vedike member Sanath Kumar, organizer Vinod Bollur, Somashekar Shetty, Vinod Salian Bellar and others were present.
Slush race, reverse run, treasure hunt, tug of war, three legged race, singing competition, couple race, senior citizen race etc were the various events held on the occasion.
Nearly 18 associations of the locality jointly organized the event.
