Panaji, July 7 (TNN): "Goa will have a special place in my heart and I will always pray for the welfare and betterment of each and every citizen in this unique and beautiful state of our country," said outgoing governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo on Sunday, a day before he leaves Goa.
In his farewell message, the governor expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the people of Goa for "the kind regard and affection showered on me and my wife during the past 26 months".
"I will always continue to cherish with a profound sense of belonging, some very special people whom I got to know from close quarters and the sweet and unfading memories connected with them during my stay in Goa."
Thanking the Goa government, the governor said, "I would like to place on record my special thanks and gratitude to chief minister Manohar Parrikar, members of the cabinet, all elected leaders and the state bureaucracy for their wholehearted support, cooperation and affection which enabled me to perform my duties to the best of my ability."
Wanchoo also thanked all the officials in the administration, police, medical fraternity, and several institutions and citizens who contributed in making his stay in Goa comfortable.
