Mangalore, Jun 28: An accused in several cases including attempt to murder former don Muthappa Rai was arrested at Ullal here on Saturday June 28, after a clash broke out between him and two persons.
It is said that the accused, Narayan Salian, was driving in his car towards Kotekar from Deralakatte to drop his cousin to beauty parlour, when he narrowly missed hitting a bike.
Preetham and his brother Lalith, who were seated on the bike, were riding towards Someshwar Temple.
Sources said that Narayan Salian, in a attempt to overtake their bike, almost crashed into them, but luckily the accident was averted.
However, the two brothers grew angry at Narayan, and intercepted his car and demanded an explanation. They got out of their bikes and approached his car, and Narayan too got out. A verbal argument erupted, and in the spur of the moment, one of the two brothers allegedly hit Narayan with a helmet.
Narayan grew furious at the brothers and on noticing a Mescom personnel's bike parked closeby, went towards it and grabbed a sickle that was on it, and allegedly assaulted Lalith. The other brother, frightened at the turn of events, ran for his life, but in an attempt to escape, he fell and sustained injuries.
Ullal police rushed to the spot and took Narayan into custody.
Both the brothers were admitted to a private hospital. It is learnt that Narayan too was injured.
It is said that Narayan was accused in a murder attempt on Muthappa Rai in Bangalore, and also in the murder attempt of advocate Harish Rai in connection to the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji. He was out in bail, it is learnt.
A case has been registered in Ullal police station.
