Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 27: The city crime branch (CCB) police here have succeeded in arresting two more accomplices of underworld dons Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogish.

The arrested men have been identified as Sunil Kumar and Rohit Kamath. They are wanted by the police for hatching a conspiracy to murder two city-based builders at Kuntapadavu near Permude near Bajpe on June 21.

On June 21, Subbu alias Subrahmanya, and Kiran alias Achuta alias Swami, said to be aides of underworld fugitives, Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogish, were arrested from near OMPL Shed in Permude here. They have been accused of planning to murder two builders of repute.

At the time of this arrest, three pistols, 17 rounds of live ammunition and cash were confiscated from their possession. Sunil Kumar and Rohit, who were present with the other accused at the time, had fled the scene during the police raid, the police claim.

Sunil Kumar (22) is a resident of Mallayyarabittu House, Kuchchigudde, Shantinagar, Kavoor. Rohit Kamath (22) resides near Vasu Shetty Compound, behind Vandana Hall, Ashok Nagar, Mangalore. The police said Sunil already faces two cases of assault in Urwa police station, and that both these cases are being heard in court. Rohit Kamath was facing two cases in Urwa station, in one of which he was exonerated by the court. The other case is in hearing stage.

After getting reliable information that both Sunil and Rohit were present at Yeyyady Industrial Area in the city, CCB police inspector and other personnel went there on Thursday June 26 and took them into custody. Both the arrested were handed over to Bajpe police station for further action.

The arrests were made by CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza and police sub-inspector, Shyamsundar accompanied by other personnel, under the orders of police commissioner, R Hitendra, and guidance of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (law and order), Dr Jagadish, and DCP (crime) Vishnuvardhan.
