Udupi, Jun 25: Udupi district Youth Congress held a protest on Wednesday June 25 at Indrali railway station against the recent rail fare hike, by stopping the Rajadhani Express train for half an hour.
Former union minister Oscar Fernandes said in his address, "BJP leaders have failed to guage people’s reaction. In the state, people have begun to raise their voice against the increasing prices. This is only the beginning."
He further said that he had placed several demands regarding inflation, but they were not implemented successfully.
"The budget session of the parliament will start on July 7 and on July 8 the railway budget will be announced. There is not enough discussion regarding these matters," he added.
He demanded that the fare hike should be revoked and said that BJP MPs were ashamed of their party because of the price hike.
Sunil Bangera, Udupi-Chikmagalur Youth Congress president, Udupi constituency Youth Congress president Vikas Shetty, Janardhan Bhandarkar, INTUC district president Murali Shetty, Yathish Karkera, Vishwas Amin, Kiran Kumar Udyavar, Sairaj Kotian, Melwin D’Souza, KPCC member Dinesh Puthran and others were present.
